What was I thinking?

Welcome to Redneck Crime, a blog for defining and detailing some delicious Southern debauchery. As an ex-reporter in small-town Texas, a personal historian, author and editor, I love writing about unique lifestyles and landscapes in the South and Southwest. Of course, the best stories are the true ones… the stories you might find buried in the Sheriff’s Arrest Report of a smalltown newspaper or in the metro section of your favorite big-city rag. Sometimes you may even find them by spending a day at the courthouse or reading micro-fiche news articles at your local library. I’m sure our friends in law enforcement know some mind-boggling redneck criminals, and I’d love to hear about them.

The purpose of this blog will be to share some of those stories with you and, hopefully, to have you share a few redneck tales with me. Reports on madness and mayhem occurring south of the Mason-Dixon line will be mightily welcomed and passed on to other readers of this site. If you’re busting to share a juicy, strange-but-true story, please tell me a little about it in the comment box below or e-mail me at tex@redneckcrime.com . I’ll be happy to set you up as a guest author. Your comments will be posted or not according to your preference, and your e-mail address will never be shared. Let’s have some fun and tell it like it is here in Texas and other foreign southern states.

Happy reading, Paula Stallings Yost (Tex)

  2. Greetings! I think you should do a little research on the annual SPAM festival that takes place down in Austin TX. I’ve never been, but I think it’s a must see.

  3. Someone needed to do it - and we’re glad it’s you. Thanks for having the courage to bring your readers the humor of these “situations” without the inconvenience of sitting on those cushion-less courthouse seats. Our best wishes for success.
